Open Book: For authors who believe the best platforms are built through readers, not algorithms.

Write the book. Build the relationship. Keep the story going.
The Open Book Community with Jessica Sorentino
For more than a decade, I’ve worked in publishing and watched how books find their readers. Again and again, it comes back to people: the conversations, recommendations, and communities that turn a book into something readers can’t stop talking about.
The Open Book Membership is where I help authors do the same.
This is a working room for writers who want to grow their platform, strengthen their brand, and build meaningful connections with readers without turning their entire life into a marketing plan.
It’s for authors who want structure without pressure, community without noise, and a sustainable way to build momentum around their work.
Everything lives in one place, every session is designed to help you move forward, and every member is building alongside people who understand exactly what it takes to bring books into the world.
Inside The Community
The Members Chat
A private space on Substack where you build alongside other authors. The members chat stays open for real-time questions, encouragement, shared wins, and the kind of steady company that keeps you moving between sessions.
Culture & Content Brainstorm (1/Month)
We work through what you'll say next: the ideas you're circling, what's happening in your world, and what conversations naturally connect to your book. Together, we turn those threads into content that sounds like you.
Study Sessions (2/Month)
We sit down to work side by side with cameras off. You, your manuscript, your marketing plan, and a room full of authors keeping each other company while the real work gets done.
Book & Brand Workshop (1/Month)
Each month, we focus on one meaningful piece of building an author career: your platform, your brand, your book, or the systems that support your work. Every session includes live teaching and open conversation shaped by what members need most right now.
The Community Directory
A directory of every member, their book, genre, and platform links, gathered into one place so we can find each other, follow along, and champion each other’s work. Nothing promotes a book better than a passionate reader, and that starts here—with us.
A Growing List of Resources
As our community grows, so does a library of workshops, templates, planning tools, and resources designed to support you wherever you are in your author journey.

Your Questions, Answered
Questions
Do I have to be at everything live?
No - if you can’t make something live, that’s okay! Content brainstorms and workshops are recorded and posted in the chat, so you can catch up anytime. Study sessions happen live, so drop in when you can. The whole membership is designed to add momentum to your life rather than fill it.
Is this a book club?
This is a working space for authors building their own books and platforms. If reading and discussing books together is what you’re after, that conversation lives over at Third Glass.
What if I’m early in my journey, or don’t have a book yet?
We still want you to join! Plenty of members are building the platform before the book, and the membership meets you wherever you are in the work.
Where does everything happen?
All of it lives between Google and Substack, in tools you may already know, used in a new way.
Should I choose monthly or annual?
Both give you the full membership. Annual saves you 50% a month, and the All-In option adds the one-on-one call, peer review, early access, and a say in workshop topics.
I thought Open Book was a free newsletter?
All published content, previous and upcoming, will remain free. The subscription will not touch the newsletter/podcast component of Open Book.
